By blowing the objects up larger than life, they feel like larger works. Cropping the items forces the paintings to be seen for their formal and abstract possibilities. It's more about the paint and less about things. Different things fascinate me from time to time, including highways, old family photos and, right now, dishes. Whatever motif I work with it is a vehicle for the opportunity to paint. It is solving problems through the use of paint that I enjoy. |
